Goodbye 2021 – Hello 2022

Here we are in another new month – the last of 2021.   As cliche as it sounds, time is going by quickly. I don’t know about you, but I found time went by so slowly during the pandemic but, now, it’s going by too quickly. It’s hard to believe that another new year is upon us – what will it bring? Just as we thought we passed the pandemic and moving forward, another variant is found raising the question, ‘what next???”

This month is one of endings and beginnings – beginning of a new month, ending of the year, beginning or a new year. And the cycle continues….

As we’ve all been faced with endings and beginnings at some point in our life, it is useful to review these changes and to uncover the ‘lessons’ they bring, whether positive or negative.  Through taking time and looking over our life events, including the people who impact us, it is possible to uncover strengths we use but may not be aware of, our responses to certain issues or how we make decisions that have led to our present circumstances.

Now is a great time to make plans not just for this month, but how you want your life to look like in 2022. Having goals is what moves you forward every day; these should be for your career, business, finances, and aspects of your personal life and growth. Having the vision, and plans, is what will get you out of bed every day; this will keep you focused and taking action.

Here are some tips to help with goal planning – the clearer you are, the more motivated you will be:

Make time in your schedule this week to review events in your life; you can start by reviewing how things went for you during the last month, but also the year:

1. What were your ‘wins’, or your accomplishments, and what skills did you use that led to these successes

2. What was the impact these had on your life, both personally and professionally

3. What resources or people were instrumental to your success; what decisions did you make and what were the factors needed that moved you to the choices you made

4. What challenges or emotional roadblocks did you face but that you were able to overcome; did the ending of something need to be done that you may have held on to for a reason and, if so, what was the reason

5. What new beginnings do you want to create as you move forward; set small goals that will motivate you to reach these new goals and commit to taking action on them

6. When do you want to plan to start working on a goal, and when do you want to achieve it

7. What support do you need, i.e. financial, personal, etc., in order to reach your goal(s)

You can look at endings in a negative view, or you can look at them as blessings that can make you stronger and more resilient and help you to continue to create more new beginnings in your life. As the saying goes, “when one door closes, another opens.” The door is opening regardless so take control over your entry.
